On June 18th, New Jersey’s First Lady Mary Pat Christie was on hand to welcome home the families to their new homes. The group “Rebuilding Union Beach” developed the grant project to fund the construction of modular homes for up to 15 eligible families who lost their homes from Hurricane Sandy. The project was funded by the Robin Hood Relief Fund as well as the Hurricane New Jersey Relief Fund that Christie oversees. "This was a blessed and happy day for many," said Steve Mataro, partner in DSW Homes. "The blessing for the families is to be coming back to their loved community and their beautiful new homes, the blessing for myself is over 40 years ago as a young child I would spend my summers right here in Union Beach playing in the sand and making friends, so being able to stand here today with New Jersey’s First Lady, the Union Beach team and all the hard working people who helped bring these families home is the blessing I will always be thankful for."
