Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA)
Following the devastation of Hurricane Michael in 2018, communities across southern Georgia experienced widespread wind damage, destroyed homes, and significant agricultural losses. In response, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs launched the HRRP to help restore storm-damaged housing for eligible homeowners.
DSW Homes joined the Hurricane Michael recovery program in 2024, delivering rehabilitation, reconstruction, and manufactured housing unit replacement services for Georgia families. To date, DSW has completed 34 housing units totaling more than $5.71 million in recovery construction services, providing high-quality, compliant homes that support long-term stability for disaster-impacted residents.
In 2024, Hurricane Helene brought additional severe wind damage and catastrophic flooding across southern, coastal, and central Georgia, further increasing the need for reliable housing recovery support. As the State expanded HRRP to assist Helene-impacted households, DSW was asked to return as a General Contractor, continuing its role in rebuilding safe, resilient homes for Georgia residents.
Through reliable delivery, efficient project management, and strong field execution, DSW became a trusted construction partner within the program. The team successfully completed manufactured housing unit replacements within 30 days and accepted delayed or unfinished projects originally assigned to other contractors who were unable to meet program construction timelines.
This work reflects DSW’s ability to step into complex recovery environments, restore momentum on challenged projects, and deliver compliant housing solutions with speed, quality, and accountability.
