Following the widespread destruction caused by Hurricanes Sally and Zeta, communities across Alabama faced significant wind, flooding, and structural damage throughout coastal and inland regions. In response to the compounded impact of both storms, the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs launched a HUD-funded housing recovery initiative to repair and rebuild storm-damaged residences.
Under this program, DSW Homes served as a prime residential contractor, delivering rehabilitation, reconstruction, and manufactured housing unit replacement services for eligible homeowners. From demolition through final key turnover, DSW managed each phase of construction with a focus on efficiency, quality, compliance, and homeowner readiness.
DSW demonstrated exceptional operational performance by completing a full demolition-to-key-turnover project in just 18 days. The team also passed 100% of program inspections with zero deficiencies, reflecting strong quality control, field oversight, and adherence to program requirements.
Through thorough final walk-throughs and careful project closeout, DSW helped ensure each completed home was delivered to a high standard, resulting in limited to no warranty calls following key turnover. This work reflects DSW’s ability to respond quickly, maintain construction quality, and support disaster-impacted families as they return to safe, stable housing.
